Project Manager / Estimator at INAB Mekaniska in Nyköping

INAB Mekaniska is a well-established mechanical workshop in Nyköping. We work with construction steelwork, mechanical workshop manufacturing, drawing design, and project management – often large steel structures and customized special solutions rather than mass production. Here, real-world conditions, experience, and intuition guide us – not ready-made tables.

We are now looking for a key person who combines project management and estimating, and who wants to make their mark in a company where you roll up your sleeves and do what it takes to deliver.

About the role – combined project manager/estimator The role is a combination of project management and estimating. The emphasis can be adjusted according to your profile – if you are strongest in project management, you will spend more time in the projects, if you are strongest in estimating, you will work more with bids and pre-calculations. But regardless of background, you need to be proficient in both areas to take overall responsibility for your jobs.

You will, among other things:

  • Calculate incoming requests and produce estimates and quotes

  • Make assessments of material usage, time, and resources – without ready-made templates

  • Lead projects from start to finish: planning, drawing review, material ordering, assembly, and follow-up

  • Conduct construction/project meetings and monitor timelines, quality, and budget

  • Manage changes and additions during the projects, often directly on-site

  • Be a technical sounding board for customers, workshop, and assemblers

  • Collaborate closely with the CEO and the rest of the team to develop working methods and profitability in the projects

This is a day-to-day environment with a lot of ad hoc – special orders, unique solutions, and project-driven small-scale manufacturing. You need to enjoy when things happen and be able to make wise decisions even when everything is not perfectly defined.

Who we are looking for You have a technical background and several years of experience from an environment where steel, forging, or mechanical workshop is everyday life. You may come from forging, workshop, or construction – the important thing is that you understand the difference between standardized construction estimating and the reality we work in: large constructions, special jobs, and changed conditions along the way.

We believe that you:

  • Have worked as a project manager, estimator, or in a combined role previously

  • Are confident in reading drawings and understanding constructions

  • Can translate a drawing and a customer dialogue into reasonable material and time estimates without relying on ready-made templates

  • Have a very good understanding of how work functions on-site – even if you lean more towards estimating or more towards project management

  • Are self-driven, decisive, and used to taking responsibility from the first customer contact to project completion

  • Are hungry, curious, and want to grow – either you come in a bit “younger” with documented experience, or you have longer experience but still a clear drive and desire for development

As a person, you are:

  • A team player who pitches in where needed

  • Practical, solution-oriented, and unpretentious

  • Structured enough to keep track of many details, but flexible enough to handle changes

  • Confident in communication with both customers, workshop, and assemblers

Requirements

  • Experience from forging, mechanical workshop, steel constructions, or related field

  • Documented experience in project management and/or estimating work

  • Good knowledge of reading drawings

  • Good understanding of estimating and economics in projects

  • Driving license B

  • Swedish in speech and writing

Meritorious

  • Experience from construction projects with steel/forging

  • Certificates in welding/forging or other relevant industry certificates

  • Experience in purchasing, planning, or work management

Working conditions and benefits

  • Scope: Full-time

  • Employment form: Permanent with a six-month probationary period

  • Working hours: 07.00–16.00

  • Location: Nyköping, office and workshop in the same building

  • Collective agreement

  • Benefits: Wellness allowance, occupational health care

  • Modern and well-equipped workshop with high capacity

Why INAB Mekaniska? Here you step into a company with strong professional pride, short decision-making paths, and a daily life where your contribution is directly visible in the projects. You get to work closely with the CEO and production, be involved in influencing how we calculate, lead, and execute our projects – while also developing both your technical and business acumen.
